Carrie Meek Gallagher

Carrie Meek Gallagher is the Chief Executive Officer of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), a position she assumed in June 2025 as the first woman to lead the organization. She brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in public utilities, environmental protection, regional planning, and sustainability. Prior to joining LIPA, she served in several senior leadership roles, including Director of the Long Island Office of the New York State Department of Public Service, Acting Deputy Secretary to the Governor for Energy and Environment, Regional Director for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and Chief Sustainability Officer for the Suffolk County Water Authority. Gallagher holds a BA in Sustainable Development and Latin American Studies from Amherst College, an MS in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Maryland at College Park, and an MBA from Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business.
