Biography
Christopher Cheng is a program manager with 18 years of experience advancing energy innovation, grid modernization, and technology commercialization. As manager of the Power Grid Innovation at NYSERDA, he leads a portfilio of more than $80 million in strategic investments that accelerate the development, demonstration, and deployment of innovative grid technologies. His work supports NYSERDA’s Innovation and Research Operating Plan by fostering partnerships among utilities, startups, technology developers, national labs, and acedemic institutions to strengthen grid reliability, resilience, and affordability. He translates emerging technologies into scalable market solutions that enable a cleaner, more dynamic electric grid to enable NY’s energy transition. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and is passionate about transforming emerging technologies into real world energy solutions.
