Biography
David leads SLREX, a solar + battery development firm. Previously, David was CEO of EmPower Solar 2023 - 2025, an award winning solar + battery developer, EPC and service firm.
David is focused on leveraging market forces to advance clean, resilient, DERs strategically for all stakeholders.
David has held numerous leadership positions including as NYSEIA Board Chair, SEIA DG Division Vice-Chair, LIA Board Member and, Vice-Chair Energy Committee.
David has an MS in Energy Management from NYIT, where he co-led the 2005 US DOE Solar Decathlon solar-hydrogen zero energy home project. He has a BA in Economics from UVM, where he received the Freeman Saltus Award in Economics. David was a NABCEP Certified Photovoltaic Installer. David started his career as a Japanese Institutional Equity Advisor at Merrill Lynch.
David lives in Long Island City with his wife, Cristina Zancani, a sustainable architect and Urban Designer, and their young son.
