Biography
Mark Austin is the Managing Director of Chandler Reed Ventures, a venture acceleration firm catalyzing growth for companies across the spectrum of energy, power, cleantech, hard tech, digital platforms, resilient infrastructure and advanced and critical materials. He is also a longstanding Entrepreneur-in-Residence within the NYS innovation ecosystem. Previously he was a Venture Partner with Bright Capital, serving as a Board Director for multiple venture-back companies, and managing investment processes from tech scouting and dealflow, through due diligence, investment rounds, strategic growth and exits.
Earlier Mr. Austin served as a Senior Advisor to UNDP’s Sustainable Energy and Environment Division, managing the sustainable technology Flagship Program. He began his career as a serial entrepreneur, with exits including an IPO, across manufacturing, medical laboratory equipment, and advanced materials. Mr. Austin has won international product design awards, has patents issued in 30 countries, and has spoken at conferences in Europe, Africa, China and US.
