Biography
In September 2021, Governor Hochul designated Commissioner Rory Christian as the Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Public Service Commission. In June 2021, Mr. Christian was appointed Commissioner. His term runs through February 1, 2027.
Mr. Christian began his career with KeySpan Energy as a civil engineer before transitioning to coordinating activities between KeySpan and government organizations.
Mr. Christian served as the Director of Energy Finance and Sustainability for the New York City Housing Authority, where he oversaw a $500M+ utility portfolio with the aim of reducing annual energy expenditures while achieving city, state and federal greenhouse gas emissions reduction requirements.
Mr. Christian was also the Director of New York Clean Energy at Environmental Defense Fund where he supported strategy, business development and stakeholder collaboration.
Mr. Christian has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the City College of New York and an MBA from Baruch College.
